Life Group F.A.Q.

Why do we meet in homes?

When the early church met together, the most common place of meeting was in each other’s homes (cf. Rom. 16:5; Col. 4:15). We also feel that it is important for believers in our generation to take their living for Christ back into their homes and family life. We need to break out of the religious concept that some building we meet in on the Lord’s Day is “the church” and that our “spirituality” is only practised at such specialised places of meeting. The Bible reveals that God’s redeemed and regenerated people are the church. And we do not need all the external paraphernalia in order to live a genuine church life as expressed in the New Testament.

Acts 2:42 tells us what the first believers did whenever they met together, "They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." Within our Life Group meetings we attempt to have all of these aspect of Christian disciplines at work. Our hope is that each person will get a balanced spiritual experience within the group they attend.

How do I get into a group?

If you would like to attend a Life Group the best course of action would be to speak with Pastor Ron. He will walk you through the process of learning about the Life Group ministry and what steps are necessary to see you become part of a group. If you already know someone in the church they may be the ones you could approach first as they may be your most natural link to getting into a group.

How often do you meet?

Groups typically meet once per week, but all members ultimately agree upon the frequency.

What nights are available?

Most of our groups meet on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday nights. Available days, group availability, demographics of the group, etc. are some of the factors that may determine the group you will become a part of. Typically we attempt to have people join groups in their geographical area, but some groups do meet according to specific age/needs criteria.

How long do groups last?

Typically the groups run from September to June with a two-week break at Christmas and are re-evaluated in the summer months. We ask members to make a year’s commitment to the group, but this may vary depending on individual circumstances or the purpose of an individual group.

Life Groups in Action

Each group is made up of people from different walks of life. You may be a young couple looking for like-minded people to learn and grow with…well we have a group for you!

Maybe you would only feel comfortable beginning in a group of women…well here is a potential group for you!

We take much care in making sure that you find the right group.
